Philosophy
The goal of the Granite Bay High School Lacrosse Program is to provide players with a positive and fun experience that builds character and success. The Program is looking for players that are committed to principles of hard work, dedication, good sportsmanship, character and teamwork. The Program believes that by following these principles, it can achieve a high level of success and become one of the premier High School lacrosse programs on the West Coast.
Guiding Principles
The Program wants to be able to compete successfully at the highest level. In order to achieve this goal, the Program has developed a list of characteristics that we believe are important to building a successful team and program. The following are the key characteristics:
- Attitude: We are looking for a positive attitude, the desire to play at a high level, and compete both physically and mentally.
- Character and Sportsmanship: Players should represent the Program and the sport of lacrosse in a positive manner. We will not tolerate poor attitudes or a lack of good sportsmanship.
- Commitment: Players must be committed to learning the game, and practice their skills and maintain a high level of physical conditioning, on their own. We expect players to attend both practices and games on time and ready to go.
- Teamwork: Lacrosse is a team game. We cannot succeed unless all players are committed to the overall goals of the team.
- Athletic ability and conditioning: We are looking for players with speed, strength and endurance. It is important the players commit to the training program we are developing.
- Skill development: we are looking for players that can catch, throw and pick up the ball consistently with both hands. Players must be willing to practice their skills regularly.
- Field play: we are looking for players that play good position on the field, both defensively and offensively, and remember and execute their assignments and roles. Players should be attentive and responsive to coaches and their direction.
